Counseling

Dr. Knight and his staff provide individual and family counseling services for a variety of difficulties. Typical problems addressed usually fall under the category of mood control and include generalized anxiety as well as separation and social anxiety, anger control, oppositional defiant behaviour and depression. Dr Knight also has extensive experience in providing counseling for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in children and adolescents. Helping older children gain a better understanding of their developmental difficulty such as Dyslexia, ADHD or Asperger’s Syndrome can also be provided.

Counseling sessions typically include time spent individually with the child as well as combined time with the parent and child. Parents are actively involved in understanding the counseling approach and are instructed how to support what the child has learned in the sessions. Counseling is also provided for parents only on how to deal with their child’s behavioural/developmental difficulties as well as advice on how to deal with family issues such as divorce/separation and coping with a child who has special needs.
